1 Corinthians 8

1. Be loving not just smart

Verses 1-3

Isaiah 5:13-“Therefore My people have gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge.”

Hosea 4:6-“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.”

Proverbs 10:14-“Wise people store up knowledge.”

Proverbs 4:5-“Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of My mouth.”

1 Corinthians 13:2-“And though I have the gift of prophesy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”

2. Think about others not just yourself

Verses 4-11

Philippians 2:3-4-“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”

3. Be willing to sacrifice

Verses 11-13

Philippians 2:5-8-“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.”
