1 Peter 3:18
1. It was an extraordinary death
Verse 18
John 10:18-“No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself.”
Romans 6:23-“ For the wages of sin is death.”
Romans 5:12-“ Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.”
Ezekiel 18:20-“The soul who sins shall die.”
John 1:29-“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”
Acts 4:12-“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
2. It was a suffering death
Verse 18
Zechariah 13:7-“Strike the Shepherd and the sheep will be scattered.”
1 Peter 2:24-“who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.”
Habakuk 1:13-“You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and cannot look on wickedness.”
3. It was a sufficient death
Verse 18
Hebrews 10:4-“For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.”
4. It was a vicarious death
Verse 18
Romans 5:8-“While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
1 John 3:16-“By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us.”
Isaiah 53:5-“But He was wounded for our transgressions.”
5. It was a redeeming death
