Matthew 1:18-23
1. God always keeps His promises
Verses 21-23
Genesis 3:15-“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”
2 Corinthians 5:8-“to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.”
John 14:2-3-“In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” And God always keeps His promises.
Matthew 28:20-“lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
2. No one can stop God’s plan
Matthew 2:13-16-“Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, ‘Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.’ 14 When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt, 15 and was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, ‘Out of Egypt I called My Son.’ 16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.”
Colossians 2:15–“disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”
Ephesians 6:12–“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
Jeremiah 1:4-5-“ Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 5 ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
3. God forgives us
Verses 21
Romans 3:10-12-“As it is written: ‘There is none righteous, no, not one; 11 there is none who understands; there is none who seeks after God. 12 They have all turned aside; they have together become unprofitable; there is none who does good, no, not one.”
Romans 3:23-“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Habakkuk 1:13-“You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and cannot look on wickedness.”
