Mark 16:19-20

Acts 1:9-“Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.

John 14:16-“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.

1. Jesus completed His work

Verse 19

Hebrews 1:3-“who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

Hebrews 2:17a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God.

2. Jesus continues to pray for us

Hebrews 7:25-“Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.  

Hebrews 9:24-“For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us.

1 John 2:1-“we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.  

3. Jesus expects us to reach others

Verse 20

Matthew 28:18-20All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Acts 1:8-“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses to Me.”

4. Jesus is coming again

Acts 1:9-11-“Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

Luke 24:49-53-“ Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven. And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen.”
