Ephesians 4:25-32
1. Tell the truth
Verse 25
Ephesians 4:15-“but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ.”
Proverbs 26:28-“A lying tongue hates those who are crushed by it, and a flattering mouth works ruin.”
2. Do not sin in your anger
Verses 26-27
Proverbs 29:11-“ A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise person holds it in check.” CSB
Proverbs 26:17-“He who passes by and meddles in a quarrel not his own
Is like one who takes a dog by the ears.”
3. Guard what you say
Verse 29
Proverbs 12:18-“There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, but the tongue of the wise promotes health.”
Proverbs 15:1-“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”
Psalm 141:3-“Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.”
4. Offer forgiveness
Verses 31-32
Matthew 6:14-15-“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
