1 Corinthians 16:13-14
1. Be on guard
Verse 13
1 Peter 5:8-“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”
Ephesians 6:12-“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
Matthew 24:43-“But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.”
2. Stand for biblical truth
Verse 13
Exodus 14:13-14-“Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
Psalm 1:1-3-“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”
Psalm 119:11-“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”
Isaiah 40:8-“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.”
2 Thessalonians 2:15-“Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught.”
3. Keep on growing
Verse 13
1 Corinthians 13:11-“When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.”
4. Keep on training
Verse 13
Luke 1:80 and 2:40-“and the child grew and became strong.”
Ephesians 3:16-“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.”
Luke 9:23-“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take uptheir cross daily and follow me.”
5. Be a person of love
Verse 14
1 John 4:7-“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.”
John 13:35-“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
