James 1:19-21
Verse 19
Proverbs 13:3-“He who guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.”
Proverbs 29:20-“Do you see a man hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.”
Proverbs 17:28-“Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; when he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.”
Proverbs 14:29-“He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, but he who is impulsive exalts folly.”
Proverbs 15:1-“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”
Verse 20
James 4:1-2-“Where do wars and fights come from among you?Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war.”
Ephesians 4:22-24-“put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”
Verse 21
Colossians 3:8-10-“But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.”
1 Peter 2:1-2-“Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.”
