A Holy Mouth is Used Wisely
Proverbs 23:15-16
1. Examine what you say
Proverbs 18:21-“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat of its fruit.”
Matthew 12:36-“But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.”
Luke 6:45-“For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.”
Romans 10:9-10-“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Matthew 4:4-“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
James 1:26-“If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.”
2. Limit what you say
Proverbs 10:19-“In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.”
Proverbs 15:28-“The heart of the righteous studies how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil.”
Proverbs 17:27-28-“He who has knowledge spares his words, and a man of understanding is of a calm spirit. Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; when he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.”
James 1:19-“So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.”
3. Control what you say
Proverbs 13:3-“He who guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.”
Proverbs 6:16-19-“These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.”
Proverbs 16:28-“A perverse man sows strife, and a whisperer separates the best of friends.”
Proverbs 18:8-“The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles, and they go down into the inmost body.”
Proverbs 28:23-“He who rebukes a man will find more favor afterward than he who flatters with the tongue.”
Proverbs 18:6-“A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for blows.”

4. Surrender what you say
Proverbs 21:31-“The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.”
Psalm 141:3-“Take control of what I say, O Lord, and guard my lips.”
Psalm 19:14-“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”
